During the week of May 3rd Emma was Star Student in her class. She was so excited because this was the 2nd time she was Star Student this school year! (I was a bit frazzled by it because they announce Star Student the Friday before. This Friday happened to be the Friday before Relay, meaning we would live and breathe Relay for the next 24+ hours! Where were we going to find time to do her poster and have it ready by Monday?! Thankfully, her teachers knew of our involvement and said she could have it ready on Wednesday. That gave us the couple extra days we needed to finish it.) She loves working on the poster and choosing photos of some of her favorite things.
Allison wanted to be in the picture with the poster too. Emma was kind and her her join in on the Star Student fun.
Thursday she wore her Taylor Swift Love, Love, Love t-shirt and presented her poster to the class. It was good timing because I volunteer on Thursdays and was able to see her share her poster in front of the class.
She also shared her Taylor Swift poster Grandma Judy gave her for Christmas as one of her teachers, Mrs. Quintana, looks on. In addition to sharing their posters each week, the Star Students are able to bring some of their favorite items in to share too. This is easy for Emma because she has gathered quite a collection of Taylor Swift memorabilia!
She shared her souvenir program from the April 11th concert. She's so proud and happy to be sharing!
Now that she has shared the poster with her classmates, on the wall it goes! She shared her souvenir program from the April 11th concert. She's so proud and happy to be sharing!
On Friday Emma came dressed as Taylor Swift (Note the cute dress and cowgirl boots!) Funny story about the boots. While getting ready for school she asked me which boots to wear. She has a short pair of brown boots with a little heal and a taller pair that have a flatter bottom/no heal. I suggested she wear the flat footed ones since she'd be wearing them all day. She looked at me and said very seriously, "I can't wear those; they aren't symmetrical!". They've been studying symmetry in class and one of the boots was missing a tassel on the side. Therefore, they are not symmetrical! Go figure!! She did end up wearing the asymmetrical boots after all though!
She sang "You Belong With Me" to her class. Although she didn't do all of her hand and body movements she usually does (since watching her videos and seeing her perform on stage she has inherited many Tayloresque type moves), she really sang loud this time. You could hear her over Taylor! Her friend, Julia, is also a Taylor Swift fan and asked if she could sing with Emma too. Check out the YouTube video of my little Emma belting out "You Belong With Me!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Gu-J6vPueI (please forgive the amateur videography!)
After singing she shared her sister with the class too. Allison was so proud to be up there and Emma was loving it that her classmates loved Allison too. Note how Allison is in the big chair and Emma is in the little chair. Allison told Emma she wanted to sit there, so Emma had to sit it the little chair.
The kids were eager to ask the girls lots of questions. One was about their favorite food. Emma turned to Allison to ask her about her favorite food and she went on about how we had just come from Costco where we sampled the chocolate covered Acai and blueberry treats. We liked them so much that we just had to buy some! Emma's teachers commented on the fact that they can't wait for Allison to come be in their class so they can hear about all of her stories!
After sharing was done, Emma asked Allison to come sit in her lap on the carpet. Here they waited to be dismissed for the day. So sweet and loving when they aren't fighting!
