Egg Hunt #3

While visiting Grandma Sue and Grandpa Rex's house, the girls had the opportunity to participate in another Easter Egg hunt. Their Del Webb community hosts the annual event and the girls love to go. All of the girls were able to gather 8 more eggs! Allison ate about all her treats from the eggs before we even made it back to the house!

Not only is there an egg hunt, but there is face painting too. Allison chose a pink butterfly and Emma asked for a blue one. They lasted all night. Allison's started to itch, so most of hers was scratched off by bed time. Guess that is what acrylic paint does to your face!

Emma was excited that her classmate from school, Cassidy, came to the egg hunt too. Cassidy's grandparents live in Del Webb as well. Notice the cute little mini cupcakes all the kids got to eat. Those grandparents are all so sweet and know how to put on a great Easter party for all the kiddos.

Something fun and new this year were relay races. The first race was balancing an egg on a spoon while making a loop around the bucket. Allison did a great job and was deeply concentrating on her route to and around the bucket.

Emma was able to relax a bit more as she and her egg made the bend around the tub before heading back to her team.

After the egg on the spoon relay, it was time for holding the water balloon under your chin relay. Allison decided she just wanted to hold the balloon and not walk with it down to the bucket. Emma on the other hand...she made many trips to the bucket with the egg balloon under her chin. Way to go Em!

While Em and Allison played the games, Brynn watched nearby. Cute little Kiley was playing "peek-a-boo" with Danielle. So sweet nose to nose!

After the festivities at the park were over it was time to head back to Grandma and Grandpa's house for some Easter dinner...ham, scalloped potatoes, veggies, fruit salad, rolls and bunny cake! Yum!

Egg Hunt #2

We headed to Grandma Sue and Grandpa Rex's house for Egg Hunt #2. Keith, Danielle, Brynn and Kiley came down for the afternoon to celebrate too. Check out all the Easter baskets above. Some pretty special girls to get all of those Easter treats!

Allison loved digging into her baskets from Grandma and Grandpa and Auntie Danielle and Uncle Keith.

Emma was all smiles opening her baskets too! Next it was time to let the egg hunt begin! The girls all gathered candies and money hidden around the back yard!

Looking to get the perfect Easter picture of Em and Allison...they don't always like to cooperate though! Every time I ask them to look at the camera they say they are but then they look off to the side. Drives me crazy! This one is pretty cute in their fluffy, flowing tutus even with the jean jackets! It was one cold Easter weekend this year.

Time to get the girls together on the swing. Last year we took their picture in the same place. We were so excited that Allison, Brynn, Kiley and Emma all looked at the camera on the very first try! Grandma says this is her Brownie troop in the making! There's a good chance it will be the cover shot for the calendar I make for my mom each year too.

So happy to spend the day with my girls. Jeff had to work, otherwise he would've joined our photo too.

After egg hunting it was time to decorate some eggs. This year we tried a painting kit. It only came with one tray of rollers and paint so we had Emma and Brynn begin decorating theirs first.

Next it was time for Kiley and Allison to decorate. They all had lots of fun and the eggs turned out great! It was nice not to use the standard vinegar to dye eggs this year :)

Don't Forget the "Joke"

Allison and Emma both helped make the traditional Easter Bunny Cake yesterday. Emma read the ingredients that we needed and Allison waited patiently to put the eggs in. As I cracked the first egg, she asked to do the second. She shouted, "Mommy, don't forget to get the joke out!" I said, "Do you mean the yolk, Allison?" She replied, "Yes, take out the joke." My silly girl makes me smile with her own pronunciation of some words!

Brynn, Emma and Allison (Kiley missed the photo op this time because she was napping) sit proudly by the Easter Bunny cake...jokes and all! Emma decided that we needed to change things up a bit this year and suggested we add some blue coconut to the top to look like the sky. Great thinking Em! The cake looked great thanks to my two helpful little bakers. It tasted very yummy too!

While Mom's Away...

Daddy and the kids will play! I walked into the house after playing Bunco for a Relay For Life fundraiser. I was gone for about 3 1/2 hours and found the girls zonked out on the air mattress down stairs. They got a special treat from dad...watching a movie while on their air mattress bed. What fun!

After seeing the girls asleep I walked up stairs and into my bathroom to find my dish soap on the counter. I asked Jeff why the dish soap was upstairs and he said he used it to give the girls a bath! They needed bubbles and he thought that would be the best type of soap to make lots of bubbles! Well he was right because 3 1/2 hours after the bath there were still bubbles piled in the tub!

Needless to say they all had a fun evening while mom was away. I love the free spirit and letting routines and schedules go out the window. Dads are perfect for that fun!

The Green Park

Each week my running group, Moms Running Wild, meets for runs around town. Thursdays we usually meet up at what Allison calls "The Green Park." Notice the green tire swing, hence the name, "The Green Park." We moms take turns running our miles while some of us stay behind and watch the girlies at the park. Then we switch roles. It's a great way to get our weekly runs in all while giving the girlies lots of play time too.

Allison, Layla and Nicki enjoying laughing, running, swinging and singing each week. They usually each pick a song to sing while they swing. Layla almost always picks Three Little Ducks while Allison usually picks Allison Be Nimble and Nicki typically chooses Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. This week Emma got to join the girls because she was on spring break.

Now That's a Workout!

Jeff was getting ready to go for a run. He called the girls over and started to bench press them! Allison loved being lifted into the air! He's so strong!!

Lola Says Good-bye

Allison absolutely loves Lola. She asks to visit her in Emma's class all the time. She gets so excited when we go to Petco to pick up some crickets for Lola. She was thrilled that Lola would spend the week with us while Emma was on Spring Break. When Jeff is home Lola gets to come out. I won't take her out by myself. I'm scared to pick her up for fear I will drop her when she squirms! Allison looks on patiently as Lola walks along the couch.

Lola really is a cool pet! She's so expressive when she gets free roam on the couch. She likes to climb up the pillows and look out the window into the back yard. Could she remember a past life when she had the freedom to roam?! Now she's is a classroom filled with 57 kindergartners and first graders!

Allison and Jeff are the only ones that will let Lola sit on them. Emma won't let Lola sit on her any more (she pooped on Emma when we had her for Christmas back in 2008). Bearded Dragon Tip of the Day: Don't let it out of the cage the day after it's feasted on a dozen crickets! The ability to roam free gets the digestive process flowing rather quickly!

It's time to send Lola on her way and bid her farewell as she spends her second week of Spring Break with Sydney and Camden. Allison asked to take her out one more time before she left so I snatched up a quick photo of Sydney, Allison, Camden and Emma.
